「おてもやん」は下働きの女性を意味する
「テマ」がなまったものだそうです。
「お」標準語と同じで「丁寧語」、「やん」は
くだけた呼称・愛称であることから
「おてもやん」は「お手伝いさん」
「女中さん」と解釈できます。
この歌は、恋人と別れて嫁に行った女性が、
その恋人への思いを歌ったものです。

Prefecture in Kyushu. The term ‘Otemoyan’
refers to a working woman, derived from
the word ‘tema.’
The prefix ‘o’ is a polite form, similar to
standard Japanese, and ‘yan’ is a casual
or affectionate suffix. Therefore,‘Otemoyan’
can be interpreted as ‘maid’ or ‘housemaid.
This song expresses the feelings of a woman
who got married after parting with her love.
